More info on Old State Road Bridge
APR 5, 2021 —
I spent an hour and twenty five minutes on the phone with an Engineer tonight. We talked in great detail about the Upper Bridge in Keeseville and of course of it being the last of it’s kind in the world. The Upper Bridge has a national Historical Significance rating of 9 out of 10. I also learned that the Old State Road Bridge at Ausable Chasm is one of three remaining bridges of this design type in the world. It’s age, location, and extremely rare experimental design make this a nationally significant bridge too! It also ranks a 9 out of 10 on the historical significance rating chart, and both are able to be completely restored, and reopened to original ‘like new’ specs. Stay tuned for some more really important info and progress on saving our bridges coming later in the week. We still have a long way to go before anything can get done, but we hope to make a lot of progress this spring!
