Visit Keeseville NY’s Historic Bridges – Tours
Our County / State Officials have all been invited to take a walking tour of the bridges (with us) to hear our story.
One of the most important things that our elected officials can do is reach out to us and hear what we have learned. It is very difficult to discuss our bridges, or even vote on a very important subject without seeing the issue in person, and hearing from the community.
A few of our County / State Officials have visited the bridges, and we thank them for taking the time to walk with us. Many of the County officials have not taken the opportunity, and we have an open invitation for them to tour the bridges (with us) any time. Here is an email I sent on May 9, 2021:

With the weather getting warmer, I would like to once again invite you all out to tour Keeseville’s Historic Bridges with me and hear what I’ve learned about Keeseville’s Historic Bridges over the last 8 months. The Tour will be very informative and positive, and is meant to be a first start to creating a meaningful connection with all of you, so that we can work together and find solutions in restoring these bridges.
Our Goal:
1) Preserve History– Our bridges are not just old bridges, not just Nationally Historic Bridges, Not just Civil Engineering Landmarks, but truly each one of a kind in the world.
2) Right a Wrong – We don’t want to focus on the negativity/problems that happened over ten years ago, we want to work together to find a solution. We want to be positive, and respectful to our county officials.
3) Make History- We want to make history with our County officials to use our bridges as a way to change the dynamics at NYSDOT. Many other states are preserving their historic bridges, and we should too. (See attached PDF with other bridges that have been restored) We have been talking with engineer’s across the country who have the skills to save these bridges. Let’s come up with a plan, and put it to action.
Lastly, I encourage anyone who has the power of a vote on important topics in Essex or Clinton County to come see these one of a kind bridges, with their own eyes, to learn what they represent, and hear our ideas to help the counties pay for these bridges. If you would like a tour, please contact me to set up a time to meet. Each tour will visit three bridges, and small groups are prefered. I will walk this same walk 100 times if it means saving these bridges.
Thank you for your time,
Our first official invite to walk to each bridge was sent on August 8th, 2020. We have sent many emails from August 2020 through present day inviting our officials to learn why our bridges are so important. We appreciate very much those that have taken the opportunity to visit them.
